The challenge
Where they were stuck
The Passaic Valley Water Commission needed to track installations for its lead line replacement program across staff and contractors.
A conventional build with a dedicated backend and database would have cost more and taken longer than the program’s budget allowed.
The solution
What we built
We built a React.js web app that uses Google Sheets and Google Drive as its backend through their APIs. Staff and contractors record and follow installations in real time using tools the team already knew. There was no new server or database to buy, host or maintain.
- 01
Serverless by design
Google Sheets and Drive APIs replaced a dedicated backend and database.
- 02
React.js front end
A simple interface for staff and contractors in the field.
- 03
Real-time tracking
Everyone sees installation progress as it happens.
The results
What changed
- Built at 80% lower cost than a traditional backend
- Real-time installation tracking for staff and contractors
- Delivered quickly and within the program’s budget
