The challenge
Where they were stuck
SBS (Step By Step Hip & Knee) is a clinical evaluation and treatment platform developed in partnership with UPMC for arthritis care. Clinicians needed one secure place to evaluate X-rays, rate patient charts and share educational resources.
The platform had to analyze DICOM X-ray images with AI and turn the results into reports patients could understand. It had to meet HIPAA requirements throughout and stay fast under a high volume of server requests.
The solution
What we built
We built a full-stack platform with AI-powered imaging analysis at its core. A React.js front end gives clinicians a clean evaluation workflow. A Node.js and AdonisJS API, with Python services for the imaging work, handles everything behind it.
The whole system runs on hardened AWS infrastructure. A custom queue keeps heavy analysis jobs moving without slowing the clinician experience down.
